Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana Johnny started in music by playing street corner music in the French Quarter at age 16. It was in New Orleans that Johnny developed The Lucky Dogg name, by buying 25 cent hotdogs from the local hotdog stands with the tips he made playing on the streets. The Lucky Doggs later were based out of Mobile, Alabama and have played all over the Southeast opening for acts such as B.B. King, Little Richard and many other beloved blues artists.
The songs on the The Lucky Doggs CD were written by Johnny. The album's musicians include Johnny Barbato, Donnie Skidmore, Luther Wamble, Ricky Chancey, Brock Barackman, Robert Griffin, Rick Raines, Dwight Everett, Rick Whaley and Mark LaBorde. The Lucky Doggs are still kickin' it with their New Orleans, Louisiana style Rockin' Blues at the world famous Flora-Bama Lounge in Perdido Key, Florida.
