Octavia performs both Blues & Jazz!
Octavia's shows differ from most in that, she plays TWO harmonica's enhancing emotion, rendering music rarely heard from other harp players. In one of Octavia's songs, she holds one note throughout an entire verse . The audience becomes "uneasy" waiting for her to turn blue and drop, but she just continues in with powerful textured vocals. This is a show stopper! Octavia is noted for playing two instruments besides her wide vocal stylings "Wicked" harmonica, sultry &powerful textured vocals, plus "old style" finger pickin guitar. Octavia's blues shows perform originals, traditional, classic blues, & selected Bessie Smith, and Koko Taylor gems.
Short Bio:
Octavia was raised in Philly, and has been singing and playing the blues since 1964. She toured with Etta James, played with Freddie King, Gil Scott Herrin, the Neville Brothers (when they were "The Meters"). Octavia & The Earthblood Blues Band opened for: B.B. King, Dr. John, Shamekia Copeland, Elvin Bishop, The Muddy Waters Blues Band at Mountain Laurel Labor Day Weekend Festival in Bushkil, & also opened for The Iguana's, & Delbert McClinton at the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts in Harrisburg. Octavia's blues band headlined their own show at Longwood Gardens (the Dupont estate). Octavia performed a blues jazz mix at the Kimmel Center For The Performing Arts in Phila 1/1/06, and will be appearing this enriching show at the House Of Blues In Atlantic City 2/20/06.
