Once an acoustic fingerstyle instrumentalist studying the path of Leo Kottke and other classical based guitar stylings, Michael Tomeo has evolved into a songwriter of many musical themes and genres. No lengthy epic tales rehashing the cliche's of lost love being told here... (perhaps a 3:30 new tale!). Latching onto an appropriate song theme/genre and taking you for a nice little ride is all its about.

"Talaveravanity" is a word dreamed up that seems to best describe these songs and recordings. 'Talavera' is a 15th century spanish name of the design and architecture of the time. We typically see Talavera in the form of a line-up of colorful ceramic tiles of different designs. The songs on the record represent a line-up of different musical designs and colors ranging from acoustic, to world, to rockin' electric blues. The vanity part... Seemed to fit and roll off the tongue nicely. Put 'em both together and you got "Talaveravanity"!
