Steve Omalev--NEVER HEARD OF IT--Bio. Born:Nov.27th,1948.,putting him dead in the heart of the 'Baby Boomers' conformity and on-going popularity contest. While growing, he developed an uncanny sense of rhythm, and an idomatically correct ear- retaining every musical nuance in every song,"The un-explainable cold rush up my spine took hold of me every time I heard anything performed from the heart. I knew that someday, I would be involved somehow. I never wanted to lose that feeling". #paragraph# His first string instrument was Banjo. Working with a Folk trio,(age 12)he played his first professional performance, as well as making his first recording. While in High School, he was mainly a lead vocalist, before he incorporated his Guitar and Piano skills."I was doing whatever it took to stay working, but I was rapidly losing those'cold chills'". #paragraph# STEVE'S major musical change came in 1966, when some fellow band members gave him a copy of some of Paul Butterfield's early work,(with Mike Bloomfield).:That was it Daddy-O, it was like those'cold chills had never left". #paragraph# Almost as soon as his musical revelation began, he was facing a decision that most young Americans had to make: Viet Nam-either run or fight. STEVE joined the Naval Reserve and finished his active duty in Aug., 1968. Within 1 year he was an established draw as a solid Blues act to all venues in the No. Orange Co. area of California."I had alot of original ideas in my head then, but had never written down, or recorded any of it until late in 1969". #paragraph# Since then, STEVE has worked and collabrated with hundreds of musicians, including: Percy Sledge, Ronnie Barron,(his old dear friend and mentor)Hollywood Fats, Joe Houston, King Earnest, and Kirk Fletcher just to name a few. He has also worked with many top L.A. based local acts, such as Greenhouse Blues, The Lifters, Jamie Wood's Roadhouse Rockets, The Fairlanes, Robert Lucas, The Rhythm Dawgs, L.A. Jones, and Hank Deluxe. #paragraph# Currently, STEVE co-hosts one of the top Blues jam sessions in So. Calif.,and occasionally headlines at Boomers in Long Beach. He has held this position now for over 4 years. #paragraph# STEVE OMALEV is a pure consumate professional, and an unmistakably gifted showman. You can count on well over 110% from STEVE, every show, no matter how small, or large the venue. NEVER HEARD OF IT was officially released in Jan.,'04, also featuring the talents of 18 other top L.A.
