Brad Howland holds the Principal Trombone chair of the Victoria Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with the Vancouver Symphony, the CBC Vancouver Symphony, and the Vancouver Opera Orchestra. He is the solo trombonist for the new music group Aventa Ensemble, and is a member of two trombone groups, the Pacific Trombone Quartet and Trombones To Go.
Brad is on the faculty of the Comox Valley Youth Music Centre, and in the past has taught trombone at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, the Conservatory's Summer Jazz Workshop, the Marrowstone Music Festival, and the University of Victoria. In 2002, Brad performed as a member of the Victoria Symphony Brass Quintet for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, at Christ Church Cathedral in Victoria, BC. In 2003 his arrangement of "Nimrod" from the Enigma Variations was performed by a mass brass ensemble of 50 musicians at the Richard Ely Memorial Scholarship Concert, University of Victoria.
