With the release of her first solo album, 'Secret Love', the classically trained singer Janet Mooney makes an important step forwards in her career.
A career that started as a backing singer for pop groups, via leading roles in musicals and operas to Tom Parker's New London Chorale. The result is a well-chosen and beautiful solo debut.
"In the past years I have sung many things without restricting myself to one style. I like to diversify and don't want to be put into a corner. On 'Secret Love' I think I have found my own style", says Janet, whose voice combines a natural emotion and warm timbre with beautiful diction & tone.
On the album, produced by Steve Sidwell (orchestrator and conductor of the Robbie Williams "Swing When You're Winning" album) Janet confirms her love of musicals.
The CD contains fourteen songs from world famous musicals such as The Lion King, My Fair Lady, The Wizard Of Oz, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, A Star Is Born and Mamma Mia.
Among the songs you will also find a duet with GINO VANNELLI - the beautiful "All The Things You Are", from the Broadway musical "Very Warm For May" by Jerome Kern.

Born of Irish parents, Janet grew up in England. "Singing is in the blood; my grandparents were travelling musicians. During family gatherings there was always singing. So when at young age I decided to become a professional singer, my parents gave me all freedom to do so".
At first Janet concentrated on pop music. She then went on to play roles in various musicals, including the role of Cosette in the West End production of Les Misérables. She has featured on numerous albums for musicals including "Rage of the Heart" with Michael Ball.
Only later followed a classical training. "I discovered that my voice could adapt to various styles, I already loved pop music but realised I also adored opera".
One things lead to another. Janet played the role of Susanna in the opera "The Marriage of Figaro" Mozart), followed by Musetta in Puccini's "La Bohème", Zerlina in "Don Giovanni" and Despina in "Cosi Fan Tutte ", (again Mozart) and the title role in "Carmen" by Bizet.
As a soloist she regularly performs with numerous orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. She also sings on many film and TV recordings. She is the 'opera voice' for Mariah Carey in the film "The Bachelor" and the soprano voice on the 2004 British Airways campaign!

In 1996 she joined The New London Chorale; touring and recording with them in The Netherlands.
In 2003 she decided that the time was right to leave the group and pursue her solo career.
"After a fantastic period with The NLC I was ready for a new challenge. The album 'Secret Love' is the first step in that challenge. It is the album I have always wanted to make. Everything on it comes right from the heart!"
