Ms. Koteva has recently distinguished herself in several competitions. She was awarded the Grand Prize at the Wallenstein Violin Competition 2000, Grand Prize at the Boca Pops Concerto Competition 2000 and Grand Prize in the Harid Concerto Competition. Other top prizes include the NSAL Violin Competition 2000 and The Escandido International Competition. After winning the Concerto Competitionin the Musicorda String Music Festival during the summer of 2000 where Liana attended on a full scholarship, she was presented as a soloist in the Musicorda Festival Concerts.
In December of 2000, Liana was accepted to be a part of the prestigious New York String Seminar under the directorship of Isaak Stern. She worked with such people as Jamie Laredo, Leila Josefowicz, Soovin Kim, and performed 2 concerts in Carnegie hall. Some of her chamber music coaches there include Michael Tree and Peter Wiley from the Guarneri String Quartet, Izidor Kohen, Sylvia Rosenberg, Ida Kavafian, etc.
Liana plays on an old German instrument from the 17th century, which was a generous gift from Mr. George Mosher, after her first recital in the US in 1995.
