Literati X is the pen name of Eric Hugh Bonner born in the Bedford Styvesant section of Brooklyn New York on November 09 1964. Literati's writing career begun early in his life at the age of thirteen. As a matter of fact the young Literati was such a stand-out avid reader, his first stage performance was inside the auditorium of PS 138 elementary school as he potrayed Mr. Rif, the official mascot for the inner city program 'Reading is Fundamental'. At the time Literati did not know what to make of it all. All he remembered was a bunch of teachers dressing him up in a costume topped off with an open book on his head an whisking him off in front of hundreds of eyeballs. Later on a more mature Literati would come to the conclusion that he was chosen to be Mr. Rif because he was thought to be the best reader inside his class. As the years went on Literati constantly found himself in the confines of employment that required compositions,essays and reports; hence, enabling him to develope his craft of writing to an acute and prominent level of acceptance. By the late 90's Literati entered a poetry writing contest and loss. He did not
give up though. Literati kept writing poetry and losing contest after contest sponsored by the International Library of Poetry until he was selected to appear in the 'Oustanding Poets of 1998'. Literati had begun to see a wee bit of recognition. In his mind he had accomplished something meaningful in his life for the very first time. Eventually
Literati would appear in more historical volumes of
poetry anthologies: 'America at the Millennium--Best Poems
and Poets of the Twenieth Century' and later on the 'Best
Poets of 2001,2002,2003,2004 and 2005'. Soon Literati grew
bored with being recognized by the International Library of
Poetry as one of the best poets of the 20th and 21st century. While he felt it was an honor, he also felt the burden that came with such a unique recognition. Not being
formally educated like his peers in his elite class, Literati felt that his poetic mark had to be written in history like an engravement in stone; especially after
the brutal attacks from the pulitzer prize winning poet
that catipulted from the pages of Random House publishing. Literati never took those attacks lite. As a matter of fact, as the implications that Literati did not belong in
a certain class of world literature began to become a haunting ring inside his ears, Literati decided to come off
the page and step on the digital distribution stage;
'Sound of Literati' was born. And guess what? Literati did not belong inside of a pulitzer prize winning poet's class.
Literati bypassed that scenario like a purposeful built bridge surpassing an aging irrelevant town as he embraced
the cold and calculated hug of the literary Gods in the
the land of the out-lord immortals. . .
