I was fortunate that I was born in a mystical land such as the Balkans, my father being from Herzegovina "krsh" (some kind of Golgotha landscape), and my mother from Belgrade, Serbia. It is a very strange combination of rural village and cosmopolitan city, but with tremendous and deep feelings for each other, which definitely influenced my musical sensitivity. I was growing, living and believing in the "Brotherhood and Unity" (the slogan for the multicultural society of the former Yugoslavia). I was able to travel freely across the land, exploring the many different traditions, playing and sharing great moments without the boundaries that now unfortunately exist throughout the region.
My concept is to create music which will evoke spirit of imagination, making musical motifs and phrases that are almost like moving pictures. For me, it is critical and intriguing to use traditional melodies and forms of musical storytelling in my music. My wish is to present music in a way that connects people personally and intimately. It is like in the old days, grandfathers reading or telling stories to the children. Never forgotten, those stories stay everlastingly in every part of us.
I am sure you will enjoy this CD.
