Fingerstyle guitarist Nunzio Rosselli announces the release of his debut solo guitar CD, Welcome to Holland. It features 10 original compositions that showcase Nunzio’s fingerstyle improvisational skills. Most of the compositions contain improvised passages that feature melody, harmony and bass all simultaneously interwoven in real time. Two of the compositions including the title track are completely improvised.
The CD opens with the meditative sound of the Atlantic Ocean which was recorded on site at Long Beach, Gloucester, MA. The ocean waves set the tone for the solo guitar music that follows. The overall mood is airy and reflective and the music has lots of space. The CD borrows its title from an essay by Emily Perl Kingsley and is dedicated to Nunzio’s 3 children.
ABOUT NUNZIO ROSSELLI:
Born in Sicily in 1960. Nunzio’s family emigrated to the US in 1968 and settled in central Massachusetts. He began his musical studies at the age of 11 by taking up the drums in his elementary school concert band. By the age of 14 he was playing professionally on a regular basis. His interests soon expanded into composition which lead him to purchase his first guitar for $13 at a Bradlees department store. Although he gained some proficiency on the guitar, it remained primarily a tool for composing and arranging. In 1995 he shifted his focus from the drums to the guitar. He devoted his time to playing the guitar exclusively as a solo instrument and to the art of solo fingerstyle guitar improvisation. Nunzio is an alumnus of Berklee College of Music and has been playing the guitar for 30+ years.
