Oriente Lopez was born and raised in a musical family in Havana.
Since early childhood Oriente's musical interests bridged various styles, from classical to jazz, brazilian, latin, and folklore.
In recent years he has composed for, and/or performed with Paul Simon, Paquito D'Rivera, Marc Anthony, Ruben Blades, Regina Carter, Charlie Haden and Gonzalo Rubalcaba among others.
His new piano recording "Orientations" 2004 is a first for him, presenting his work solo.
