This acoustic live piano performance explores three different avenues of personal expression and composition: free improvisation (in accorance with pre-determined key centers, musical textures and road-map), jazz piano honoring the spirit of first, Bill Evans and then Thelonius Monk. And finally, through-composed (classical-like) pieces played note for note(although the music is contemporray!).

Pianist/composer, Fredric Zimmerman, has been exploring methods of both performing and teaching free improvisation for years. The first 26 tracks of this album (both the score in the insert, as well as the performance)present Zimmerman's techniques which are layed out in more detail in his yet-to-be-published book titled, "Speaking Music."
