Russo prepared for his passion by focusing on an artful combination of classical and jazz compositions, while attending Berkelee College of Music in Boston. His commitmet and discipline in music give him the opportunity to study and master an array of woddwinds, as well as many other instruments, under the tutelage of the highly acclaimed Frank Foster, an inspiring original memebr of the COunt Basie Orchestra. Russo also studied with Salvatore Amato, a stimulating element of the NBC Orchestra.
Although a sensitive understanding of classical and jazz styles has influenced many of Russso's works, he continues to have an insatiable desire for creative instrumental emergence that is not limited to, but complimented by his diverse musical portfolio.Rhythm and blues, big band, contemporary swing and synthesized new age sounds are all part of his inspirational-like approach which stimulates many of his original and abstract compositions.
Russo continues to regularly perform with his own multi-versital groups in the bay area. To hear more about Mark Russo check his website at www.theclassycats.com.
