Ruth McGinnis is a Juilliard trained, Classical Violinist who changed musical direction after discovering the beauty and freedom of Folk, Celtic and Bluegrass fiddle styles. She performed and recorded for many years with the late folk legend, John Hartford, to whom she attributes her unique musical style. Ruth has also performed and recorded with Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Michael W. Smith and the late Chet Atkins.
As an artist in her own right, Ruth performs for audiences from church to corporate settings, on grand concert stages as well as in the intimate settings of bookstore cafes. Accompanied by a trio of outstanding musicians (keyboard, acoustic guitar, saxophone and flute), the combination of her elegant Juilliard tone and the free, eclectic style that has become her trademark, Ruth's live and recorded music has been described as "a paradox of masterful complexity and gentle simplicity."
