Champagne and Candlelight, Opera di Camera, is releasing its first CD, Mozart's Zaide. Unlike previous releases of this opera, this CD uses authentic fortepiano accompaniment instead of modern orchestra, as we used in performance. As matter of fact, this CD offers the modern audience a unique chance to compare different kinds of keyboard instruments available during the late 18th century Vienna, by featuring both Stein and Walter fortepiano's in the same recording.
Other than this aforementioned point of interest, this CD also boasts Mila deCosta, an artist active on both European and American stages and a top-forty artist with MP3 in the title role. This is how the New York Times critic described her voice: "her voice is lovely and luxurious and is capable of blossoming gorgeously above the staff." The cast is under the direction of a promising young conductor, Nicholas Fox. Included in the cast are Ergys Mita, a young soloist from the National Theater of Tirana, Albania; Cordell Jones seen this summer at the Santa Fe Opera and David H. Yin. Ms. Catherine Miller is the fortepianist.
