"Christmas Traditions with Chelsea" is the fourth CD that Chelsea has completed. The first one "Meet Chelsea Canales and Celestial Skies" was competed when she was 9 years old. Her second CD "The Diverse Sounds of Chelsea" was produced at age 12 to showcase her various vocal styles. Her true love is in classical music and CD number three "Classical Thoughts" at age 13 is a prime example of her incredible talent. Many of Chelsea's listeners requested a Christmas CD and "Christmas Traditions with Chelsea" was finished November 2003 at age 13.
Her next album will include all songs of inspiration. Selections will include "You Raise Me Up", "My Heart will go on", Wind beneath my wings" and eight more. One very special song requested by her dad to be included on the CD is "Dance With My Father again". Completion date for CD five will be before Christmas 2004
A Note from Chelsea: "My favorite time of the year is Christmas. To me this is the time that brings so many friends together that are drawn together for one purpose, to share peace and love at this very special time. It is a time to reflect back and remember a time in history that touched the hearts and minds of so many and continues to do so.
My mom, dad and I talked about producing a Christmas album and we decided to just pick the older traditional and not so traditional songs written before the turn of the century. Thus "Christmas Traditions with Chelsea" was born. I had a lot of fun in the studio singing the songs. It put me in a festive mood starting in the summer of 2003 when we started the project. It was a lot of hard work, but I was very excited when I finally heard the end results.
My favorite song on this album is "O Holy Night". I have been performing this song for over the past five years. It touches me every time I sing it and it brings me great joy to share my God given gift to those that are touched by my voice.
I really liked the arrangement that my dad did for "Sleep Holy Babe". It's a traditional song but with a Caribbean feel.
As Classical music is my favorite, I asked that "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring" be included on the CD.
I truly appreciate your interest and support in my musical career. Every time a CD is purchased, the funds are set aside for my future musical career.
