Recuerdo is a set of eleven songs to poetry by William Butler Yeats, Sara Teasdale and Edna St. Vincent Millay, composed, performed and arranged by Frank Feldman and sung by Roni Kohen-Lemle.
The project has been a labor of love for the artists for upwards of five years, reincarnating itself over and over again, enriched by patience, reflection and life experience, untilit finally achieved its present burnished glow. The songs are the composer's musical responses to the spiritual and emotional content of the poems themselves, their passion, their sense f beauty, nature, loss and love. All were written with Roni Kohen-Lemle's voice in mind, with whom the composer has had a deeply productive and soul-satisfying artistic partnership for many years. From the outset of the project, the artist's aim has been to use the latest computer and recording studio technology in the service of acoustic-sounding, natural music making. In this, the artists have succeeded brilliantly. The music is gorgeous and the vocals exquisite. The sound is warm, honeyed and full of rich presence.
