Powers That Be features lyrical music from Scotland, Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Ireland, and America, along with classical selections by Franz Schubert and J. S. Bach, performed on the rare cross-strung harp (with cameo appearances by the bowed psaltery and recorder). Beautiful new pieces by Bob Zawalich and Harper Tasche are also included. This is pure acoustic music - mixed without heavy equalization or reverb, "nature sounds," or synthesizers.
Letters and comments from fans: "Every time you make a CD, I think it's my favorite - and then you make another one that's even better." "Everything those reviews say about you is actually true!" "Why does every one of your albums have at least one song that makes me cry?" HARPER TASCHE holds a unique and prominent place in the folk harp world. He is internationally known as an expert on cross-strung and small folk harps, distilling European, Scandinavian, Celtic and American music into a distinctive and intensely lyrical style. Harper's credits include eighteen recording projects, international radio airplay, television and film work, composition commissions, and music books in two languages. Based in Seattle, he also holds the title "Millennium Harper of Washington State" from the Harping for Harmony Foundation. Harper can be reached via www.harpcrossing.com.
