LINDA EAGLESON has been heard in recital throughout the Eastern United States. She received her Bachelor's degree from the Boston Conservatory of Music, where she was a scholarship student of James Pappoutsakis. In her native New Jersey, she became active as a soloist and chamber musician, and performed as principal flute in the Adelphi Orchestra, under the direction of Emmanuel Vardi. She continued her studies at the University of Maryland, where she studied with William Montgomery. In 1990, she was a finalist in the University's Homer Ulrich Competition, and in 1991, she was a prizewinner in the Flute Society of Washington Competition. She is now an active free-lance musician in the Washington, DC area. Her varied activities have led to performances at The White House and the Kennedy Center. She has performed in recital at Weill (Carnegie) Recital Hall in New York, the Brandeis Summer Music Festival, WQXR (New York) radio "Artists in Concert" series, Strathmore Hall (MD) Music in the Mansion series, and the third Saturday concert series at the Equinox Hotel in Manchester Center, VT, where she received critical acclaim as a "first-rate flutist." She was included in the 1998 International Who's Who in Music. She has been noted for her tone quality, virtuosic ability, and sense of phrasing. This is her first CD, and many people, including fellow flutists and other musicians, have found it to be very relaxing to listen to. This recording includes the world premiere recording of Donna Kelly Eastman's "Prikichi, Chuchubi, and Other Birds of Curacao," which was written for Linda as a remembrance of a trip the composer took to that area.
