Lyrisa is a group of women who began singing together for fun in the fall of 1998. Our name Lyrisa was coined from two root words meaning music and laughter, which is a very good description of what we do. By day, our members are organ builders, mothers, teachers, storyteller, artist, physician, lawyer, city planner, computer guru, and occupational therapist. Lyrisa sings concerts in and around Staunton, Virginia in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. We perform sacred and secular works in a variety of musical styles from a wide range of historical periods. For this, our first CD, we chose a program of sacred songs from several traditions that span six centuries. We love the sound we make together and we enjoy each other's company. Singing in Lyrisa feeds our spirits and we hope that our music will feed our listeners' spirits.
