There is a good reason why vocalist, harpist Mair Rathburn of Southern California entitled this CD "How can I Keep from Singing?" This popular entertainer sincerely enjoys being an acoustic ambience engineer ("Please DON'T call it background noise, elevator music, etc.") At the Four Season's Resort Aviara in Carlsbad, CA and hotels throughout Southern California. Mair (rhymes with "air") is content to provide quiet music for tete-a-tete and tea. Mostly self taught at the harp, she actually has a BA in Voice, and is in constant demand as a vocal soloist.
"I love being an instrumental solo player, but sometimes I feel like bursting LOUDLY into song, too. 'How Can I Keep' from it?"
Many of Mair's harp fans don't know that she sings, as neither do her singing patrons realize she plays the harp. "People have been asking and asking for a recording of their favorite hymns and sacred songs. They have been asking also for a sequel to her last CD. So, here they both are...together." The songs on her new CD are very meaningful to her. Three of them are her own compositions, and give an insight to her personal faith commitment.
Mair is married to singer-songwriter Joe Rathburn. She enjoys studying music and history, nature hiking with her dogs Chippy and Smidgen, and the simple life.
