Missy Thomas-Schmit is a classically trained pianist and 'cellist who began her career in music at the age of 5. Studying in Boston, she was encouraged by her parents to practice and to develop the gift she had into something wonderful. At age 14, she and her family moved to Claremont, California, where she continued her studies under the supervision of Gary Davenport. After a brief break from music to study chemistry, get married and start a family, she returned to the piano and continued her musical studies at Scripps College and Pitzer College in Claremont, California.
