Before Wardy Hamburg was already been accepted by John-Edward Kellys as his one and only student in this Conservatory, she already had finished her postgraduate studies (1998-2000) with Arno Bornkamp at the Conservatory of music in Amsterdam with the highest degree.
Nageeb Gardizi studied the piano with Roberto Szidon and was also given the highest degree for his diploma as soloist and chambermusician. His interest in contemporary music in particular was mainly formed by entering the musical world of the saxophone. Participating at the chambermusic classes of John-Edward Kelly, the two soloists more and more experienced their language as a Duo. Being awarded the 3rd price at the “International Wolfgang Jacobi-Competition for Contemporary Chamber Music†2002 in Munich/Germany, both decided to found a Duo and intensify their musical partnership. Since that time, the Duo has enlarged its concert repertoire, including mostly all standard and also non-standard works for saxophone and piano. Beside their permanent activities in various first performances, both as soloists and in chambergroups (a.o.“Ensemble Modernâ€), both musicians already found a rather homogeneous and harmonical balance in sound and musical dialogue. The debut CD “Undulationsâ€, containing a colourous selection of original works of known and unknown composers of the 20th century, had already been released under the label “Triton Records†in 2004, introducing the Duo to the musical world.
