As a composer, Duane Carleton has written six albums of critically acclaimed material for the rock band Tin Pan Alley, as well as having written a track for Sandra Wright that was a popular staple of her live shows. His recent pairing with fellow singer/songwriter Jim Gilmour has provided him with an outlet for his most current body of compositions as evidenced on their newest release, "Back to Square One". On an ever-evolving journey of self-discovery, Duane revisited his earliest roots and combined them with some of his latest influences to create a large collection of deeply personal Roots Rock/Alt. Country tunes. Under no pretense of trying to impart any great wisdom, he has instead chosen to draw on what he knows and craft a poetic landscape encompassing the elements of rural life. These songs tell of the beauty, tragedy, passion and heroism that this disappearing lifestyle inspires.
Jim founded his compositional style while searching for new sounds and grooves on his acoustic guitar using multiple and partial capos and alternate tunings. His lyrics, sometimes veiled, sometimes chillingly frank are composed from the everyday subjects of life; the temptations of addiction, love and love lost, and the power of connection, all while celebrating the mystery of life. Not content to work in a vacuum, Jim Gilmour performed over 150 dates in 2002, in a variety of configurations. Solo, in the acoustic duo Acoustic Alley with Duane Carleton, as a sideman for recording artist Laura Molinelli and as bassist in the acoustic rock band The Vapours. Jim's style is casual, and confident, and his comfortable delivery of anecdotes and audience interaction results in a captivating show. In addition to his solo career Jim continues to produce and engineer CD's for independent artists. He is also a bassist and backing vocalist for many performing acts on the road and in the studio. He has worked with artists such as James Mee, Kort & Beth McCumber, Rick Redington, jam band Foxtrot Zulu, and many other local and regional acts including the Celtic band, Wind That Shakes the Barley. * Winner of the 2002 KRCL Performing Songwriter Showcase Contest, Park City, UT * Producer of the Turn of the Tide Acoustic Music Series www.turnofthetide.com * Owner/Operator of Southview Arts - a professional recording retreat Check out the artist's website: http://www.foolish.com Track List: 1.
