Conchita Thornton-Marusich (Vocals, Guitar)
Conchita was 15 years old and going to school in France , when her mother gave her a guitar and a book of folk songs. She was an outspoken American girl trying to fit into a more rigid European educational system, when music saved her. Conchita learned some of the early folk songs like "Frankie and Johnny" and "Banks of the Ohio " which connected her back to her American roots. Folk music opened a whole new musical world to her. Conchita has performed in night clubs and coffee houses as a solo artist, entertained on the Princess Cruises Line, and appeared in musical comedy shows. Recording some of her favorite songs on this CD has given her the chance to work musically with her family and Rod Sakai. Conchita's group, Timeless Journey, looks forward to their musical adventure together. Jenny Marusich (Violin, Vocals) Jenny has been playing the violin ever since she was in the 4th grade. Now, she is a first violinist in her school orchestra and enjoys being part of a jazz band. She can easily transition from playing fiddle music to performing selections by Bach and Vivaldi. Jenny particularly loves playing swing and fiddle songs with Timeless Journey. Rod Sakai (Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin) Rod has been playing guitar since he was 16 years old. Early on, his inspiration came from Southern California country rock artists such as Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles, Jackson Browne and Crosby , Stills, Nash and Young. After he had been playing the guitar for a while, Rod wanted to explore other string instruments, so he learned the banjo, mandolin and ukulele. Now he's into all forms of music including jazz, rock, country and folk. Performing with Conchita and Jenny in Timeless Journey has definitely brought back great memories of those early folk and country influences. Richard Marusich (Producer) When Conchita told her husband, Rich, that she wanted to make a CD, he said, "Let's do it. You've always wanted to record your songs and you and Jenny sound terrific. Now is the time to keep those dreams alive." Now Timeless Journey's producer, Rich has worked in the film industry as a producer, production manager and cameraman. He also performed with a chamber group that sang five-part harmony. Judy Brock (Arranger, Vocals) Judy is a well-known children's entertainer who along with her twin sister, Janet, formed the group "Janet and Judy" and recorded 7 award-winning albums specifically for kids and families. She now serves as a children's choir director, youth orchestra conductor and teacher of violin, fiddle and guitar. She enjoyed helping Jenny and Conchita arrange the songs for their first album "Reflections." Connie Holt (Photographer) www.photographybycbholt.com Connie has spent his life in two worlds. The muses took hold of him in High School where he majored in music and was the school photographer. Connie went on to become a cameraman in the motion picture industry as well as a still photographer. He also performed as a featured drummer during two USO tours to the Far East . Connie is currently focusing on capturing the beauty of nature with his still photography. Christopher Marusich (Web Master) Chris has always enjoyed working on the computer. Now he uses these skills in creating a website for Timeless Journey and their first album "Reflections." His love of music started at an early age when he learned both the piano and the drums. He is currently getting back into playing the piano. Marc Ellis (Engineer, Keyboard, Guitar) www.marcellismusic.com A composer for TV and film, Marc Ellis has scored movies for Dreamworks, Paramount, Sony and Revolution. He has an Emmy nomination for the documentary "The Search for Amelia Earhart" for NBC. At the tender age of three, Marc decided he wanted to become a musician when he used to listen to ad jingles on radio and TV and then play them on the piano. This CD is dedicated to Conchita's mother, the late Elena Wolfskill Thornton, whose creativity and caring inspired Conchita's musical journey. Elena was named the Queen of Los Angeles on September 5, 1941. She was the great-granddaughter of William Wolfskill, an early pioneer of Los Angeles, who was one of the founders of the citrus and wine industries in California. A talented and beautiful actress, Elena performed Shakespeare throughout the USA, appeared off-Broadway and played numerous roles on radio, including the popular soap opera of the day, "The Goldbergs".
