Texas singer/songwriter Dave Larsen has spent most of the last thirty-five years crisscrossing the Southwest and the Midwest singing and playing in bars, clubs, halls, coffeehouses, colleges and picket lines--wherever an appreciative audience gathered. Through his travels he developed an admiration for the lore of the people and for the landscape of the great heartland. His songs tell those tales with the utmost affection and understanding. His love of his country is not some sentimental, self-aggrandizing brand of patriotism, but a deep and abiding respect for the land and the working people who inhabit it. Farmers, immigrants, miners, ranchers, migrant laborers and drifters are the characters in his well-crafted narratives. The Southwest Songwriters Association has recognized him for "Excellence In Songwriting" and he continues to compose with the same reverence for the spirit of the folk tradition that earned him that commendation.

With the release of his new CD, Plains, Trains & Mules, Dave lets everyone know what many of us already knew: this fellow can just flat out write good songs. He writes much like the crafter of great shor stories; he is a precise narrator of our collective saga and can spin his yarn within the song format. The latest CD carries on where his last CD, Still I Dream...Of America, left off, relating the continuing tale of America's heartland.
