It was August 3rd of 2002 in Northern Minnesota where performers and concert goers braved a little rain for an unforgettable afternoon of music. Every singer, young and old provided a days worth of inspiration and elicited a range of emotions from goose bumps to smiles and tears. Whether you were one of the Festavarians lucky enough to witness this first annual celebration of original music, or are hearing these tunes for the first time, we hope to have captured this memorable event for you in this collection of songs. Recorded live from the outside stage at Rob's Mahtowa Tavern, this Limited Edition collection has aspects of fantasy, reality, inspiration, and realization backed by an occasional bird chirp, roll of thunder, or howl of an ol' GMC pickup rolling down 61 that all somehow seems to intertwine the performances.

Incredible lyrical imagery defines the artistic pallet of this wonderful country, and The Highway 61 Folks Festival provided a canvas for personal expression for what made the event truly unique. Mr. Bob Dylan wrote, "...just put some bleachers out in the sun and hold it out on Highway 61", and it's just what we did. We invite you to take a drive down this entire beautiful stretch of Highway 61 in Northern Minnesota and take notice of simple little towns like Mahtowa, and the riches they bring.

Special contributors to the Highway 61 Folks Festival include Music-Go-Round, Minnesota Power, Lake Country Power, Rob's Mahtowa Tavern, TJ's, The Mahtowa Economic Development Committee, BestMonthlyClubs.com, Alakef Coffee Roasters, Lake State Federal Credit Union, and The First State Bank of Finlayson.
