She said, "son, I can't explain, its more than old age aches and pains". While visiting my mother at her "new" home, a nursing facility, she seemed "blue" as she described her feelings that day. I asked her what was going on but all she could say was "son, I can't explain it". I left her that day feeling guilty that I was headed for familar surroundings but she would remain in a place she could not call home. She's gone now but her words wouldn't leave me so I put them in a song, "All Dressed Up". Then, one song led to two and then four and finally eleven. I tried to write every song leaving the listener with something positive. Although there are verses of loss there are followings of hope and joy. Because of the response and requests for more copies of "Passages" I am convinced that the loves and losses in my life are no different than in others. Somewhere along the way each of us will lose someone we love. We will face heartbreak and embrace joy. We will find turmoil at times and hopefully find peace. King Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes; to everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven (3:1-8). I believe a season is life and purpose is what we do with it while we have it.
