Rubber Wheels is the 5th release from Jackstraw. This album features lead vocals from all four members and more original songs then any of their albums so far. Rubber Wheels kicks off with a driving and twisted rendition of Frank Wakefield's "Mexican Stomp" and then shifts into "Country Dave", an original country song written by David Pugh (mandolin). The album also includes some beautiful ballads such as " Far Away" and "Ohio" written by Darrin Craig. Jesse Withers (bass) sings lead on "What Was I Supposed To Do" ( ) and Jon Neufeld (lead guitar) sings one of his own - a mid tempo song entitled "One Thousand Miles". David Pugh also throws in some of his original instrumental tunes with "Rusty the Rambler" and "The President's Waltz". Other tunes include "St. Elanor" (written by Darrin Craig) and "You Won't Be Satisfied That Way"(taken from Bill Monroe/Doc Watson). All in all, Rubber Wheels gives its listeners a well-rounded album of fine music rooted in the tradition of bluegrass.
