Janne henshaw (pronounced 'jan') is a highly acclaimed singer and songwriter who has been described as a "powerhouse singer" and "an angelic voice, like Nanci Griffith, but with less nasality" (Indianapolis Star). Her original songs have won her two awards at the prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest and a New Folk honor at the Kerrville Festival in Texas, as well as songwriting honors at the Walnut Valley Festival and the South Florida Folk Festival.

Her folk, country and bluegrass influences show in her exceptional songwriting which can be heard on her CD "Tell Me" ("Henshaw's finest hour as a songwriter"...Bloomington Herald-Times) and her new CD "Drifter's Prayer". Both CDs feature many of her originals as well as standout performances by such noted musicians as Jeff White, Bryan Sutton, Rob Ickes, Andrea Zonn, Mike Bub, John Mock and Butch Baldassari.

Janne Henshaw grew up in Michigan performing classical, folk and country music. College studies led to degrees in music and folklore/ethnomusicology. A six-month stay in Norway and travels in Ireland and Scotland and the mountains of the southeastern U.S. strengthened her interest in traditional music which flavors many of her songs.

She has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe, captivating audiences with her warm presence and moving songs, and has been featured on many radio programs, including "The Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour", "Bound for Glory" and "River City Folk".
