Inspired by a childhood 'crush' on Glen Campbell, Kim Townsend began playing guitar and singing at age 5. Within a few years, she progressed to flute, piccolo, bass guitar, and bassoon - which number among the many instruments that she now plays. A native of Lubbock, TX, Kim currently divides her time performing in both her beloved Lone Star State and the Pacific Northwest.

'Wayworn Traveler' (her debut CD), is a 53 minute ecclectic mix of original songs ranging in style from a humorous, blues-flavored song about a cross-dressing butler, to a heart-wrenching ballad of a child in trouble.
The title track, ironically, is the only tune not penned by Townsend. She came across an old cassette tape of her great-grandfather singing songs (acappella) that his mother and grandmother had taught him when he was a boy. The song 'Wayworn Traveler' in particular captivated Kim's attention and she immediately set out to make a more modern arrangement, as well as breathe new life into the forgotten tune. The result combines the original, primitive recording of her great-grandfather along with Townsend's vocals and instrumentation.

" With a pure, sweet voice that can handle songs that range from sassy to sorrowful, Kim Townsend may well prove to be the best singer/songwriter to come out of Lubbock, Texas since Buddy Holly." - Nicole Blizzard, freelance writer- Austin, TX

"Kim is a polished guitarist . She has a smooth style, not to mention a twinkle in her eye and a mischievous grin. She is a top-rate performer with comedic timing!" -
Jay Pinto - producer
