The label "Contemporary Folk," covers a wide diversity of styles and material, but it's still too narrow for Little Big Men. Their music draws from elements of rock, country, blues and Celtic traditions - all of which are well represented on this recording. Their repertoire is grounded in the original compositions of lead singer and guitarist Dan Connor, whose album "Writes of Passage" was nominated for "Best Americana" in the 2003 San Diego Music Awards.
Adding enormously to this strong foundation is the brilliant harmonicist Dan Byrnes, and classically trained percussionist "Bongo Bob" Goldsand. This fine young trio of ageing, politcally radical golfers delivers a brew of formidable potency. Greg Tutweiller, managing editor of Songwriter Magazine has this to say: " . . folk synergy at its best . . they are just plain fun to listen to." Check out these songs and decide for yourself. Jimmy Duke's is the best venue for folk music in San Diego. Always full on listening at Jimmy's and good food and drink to boot. House sound is tops and Joe Rathburn provides a 16 track, 24 bit, expertly recorded documentation of their performance to all who pass through. Little Big Men decided to use that recording for this album. It was a great night, and now it's a great album too. Let us hear from you! Track List: 1. Introduction 2. Long Haul 3. Kilcullen 4.
