If reviews of CD "Tailgates and Substitutes" are any indication, favorable comparisons are in order with 10,000 Maniacs, the We Five and Bonnie Raitt. Quite a spread, but all in a day's work to this band, whose love of American & British folk/rock spans many decades and styles. Press Democrat Arts Online "Great Alterna-Country rockin' band from northern California...Broughton warbles like a bird in one breath and rocks hard when the material demands it", Bob Cianci, River Reporter, NY "Soulfully incandescent vocals; an enormously gifted band", Chris Garcia, Press Democrat "Somewhere between the We Five and 10,000 Maniacs", Bill Frater, freighttrainboogie.com. "Built around the songwriting-singing duo of Allegra Broughton and Sam Page... breezes through sunny-day acoustic folk; rocks harder as a quartet, deepening the grooves & sharpening the bluesy edges. The crisply produced CD's 10 original songs stand up well, fitting into the same engaging alternative, country-tinged, folk-rock fold that embraces Lucinda Williams & Mare Winningham.", Derk Richardson, S.F.Bay Guardian Arts & Entertainment.
