The Neon Valley Boys played bluegrass and other music during the 80's. Primarily in Rhode Island, they also played throughout New England and at New York City's Eagle Tavern as well as venues in Pennsylvania and Indiana.
The whole thing started with Mike Bresler. He booked a date a the infamous Met Café as The Badass Bluegrass Boys and assembled members Karl, Ed, Jeff and original guitarist Ray Lema for a great night of bluegrass and mayhem. Six months later, Ray was replaced by Paul Mellyn. The Neon Valley Boys entertained a widespread audience with their tight harmonies, quick picking and snappy patter. Eddie wrote instrumentals and a Neon vocal favorite "Cowboys Dig Them High-Heeled Shoes" found on the CD. Paul wrote "Home From the Mills," recorded by Chesapeake and Northern Lights. Mike wrote instrumentals, notably "Grits!," which is also on the CD. Since the 80's, Karl builds instruments. Ed, due to a brilliant venture, is retired and living in Connecticut and plays piano. Multi-instrumentalist Mike continues to entertain audiences of all ages. Paul writes songs, plays music, works in construction and lives in Maine. Jeff was a 6-year veteran of Northern Lights, recording three albums with them, and continues to play bluegrass and folk music in New England. Karl and Jeff are members of The Pegheads, along with former NL member, Mike Kropp. The band has been performing during the past few years to sell-out audiences at a yearly Reunion Concert at the Blackstone River Theatre (www.riverfolk.org) and a few other choice venues. The album sells well at gigs and through mail order. Track List: 1. Say You Lied 2. Half and Half 3. Dust on the Bible 4. Bugler 5. Enchilada Breakdown 6. Six Feet of Snow 7. Head Over Heels 8.
