The dim lights and thick smoke of the local country night spot - a dance floor that can hold more than 2 couples. Neon lights line the wall, and a live country band takes the stage to perform hard country music - not the pop stylings of another music row puppet or a rock band claiming to be pure country, but music from the "wild side of life" done in the same fashion as Webb Pierce and George Jones - stripped down to its bear and basic components. As honky tonks, live music, and country dancing become relics in American popular culture, Chris Guenther steps forward with his effort to "bring back the honky tonks" and the twang of telecasters and steel guitars.

A prophet to the cause, Guenther is a student of the classics. He learned how to sing from Hank Williams records, how to pick from Buck Owens and Merle Haggard albums, and honed his song writing talents by learning Ernest Tubb, Jimmie Rodgers, and Harlan Howard songs. Never a mere imitator, the progressive style that emerges from Guenther is every bit his own. He breathes youth and driving energy into traditional country forms, without compromising the root elements and fundamentals of the genre.
