This CD contains a good variety of traditional country and some original songs, that show the real South Texas Flavor of country music. Doug and Carol perform at the World Famous Arkey Blues (Silver Dollar Bar) in Bandera Texas, every week end.
Doug has been in the music business for 30 years, born in 1942 in Wichita, Kan. His interest's in music started in the 50's with Elvis, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis and other rock and roll artists. The 70's held all new artist's such as Merle Haggard, George Jones, Ray price, Hank Thompson, Bob Wills and even Tony Bennett. Doug has played with artist's such as Johnny Bush, Darrell Mc Call, a time or two with the great Floyd Tillman. Doug was influenced by all these artist's but three stand out as a major influence which is Elvis Presley, Merle Haggard and Bob Wills. In 1974 Doug started playing with the "Blue Cowboys" a band in a small town in Bandera, Tx. The clubs name was "The Silver Dollar" owned and operated by Arkey Blue, A singer songwriter formally from Fredericksburg, Tx. There he had a chance to perform some of his own material for a very wide cliental, the folks were from all over the world says Doug we played every weekend even if it was a holiday, there were always guest artists dropping by like, Johnny Bush, Susie Bogus, Johnny Gimble, the Dixie Chicks were seen a time or two. The band is great says Doug, on bass Doug Livingston, on drums Harvey Hauck, on steel the great Dicky Overby, on fiddle and guitar Mr. Robbie Clark. Carol ( Doug's wife) started singing with the band in 1990 she adds a sweat sassy sound to the band. Carols interest's in music are from the Delta Blues, she loves artists like Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Big Joe Turner, Otis Redding and not to forget Jimmy Reed, you can here this in track no. 9 " Send me some lovin". She's great says Doug and the folks really love her. She wrote the song " Favorite ole Honky Tonk of Mine " on this album. Doug left the Silver Dollar in January 2003, however you can catch him playing around the South Texas Honky Tonks.
