Music has been a part of Gwen’s life from the very beginning. When she was born her father named her after a song called “Gwen Congratulations†and that was only the beginning. Gwen grew up on the road traveling with her Dad’s gospel group and, of course, she herself began singing in church at a very young age.
Gwen is now building her own career, having recorded her second album earlier this year, entitled “Gwenâ€. Although country music is what she performs most, it’s apparent on her new album that she has had many musical influences. Along with country songs from today are some more traditional country songs as well as a little bit of bluegrass and a little bit of gospel. “I love performing Country music but, Bluegrass and Gospel are very close to my heart.†Gwen says. “That’s what I grew up singing in my Papaw’s living room.†Included on the album are two very personal songs written by Gwen called “The Sweetest Sound†and “My Angel’s Prayerâ€.
For now Gwen is staying busy playing wherever she can. She recently played at Kentucky’s famous Renfro Valley and also opened for the very successful band “Exileâ€. She is also playing festivals and other events to promote her new album.
“I really believe that there is something for everyone on this album. Some songs will make you cry, some will make you dance, and some will just make you smile. And, that’s what it’s all about!â€
