My name is...James Maddox,
I grew up on a farm in North Georgia and at the age of about 14 years while plowing in the fields at night on an ole John Deer tractor, I would sing to the top of my lungs to anything that was willing to listen.
Sometimes I would get foxes and other varmints to come out of the woods and listen.
I don't know if they liked my singing or just wanted to see what the noise was all about.
Anyway, I love to write songs that deal with love, more so, than any other type song. I also like to write songs that are on a more personal level, such as using personal names.
The listener has a more personal relation with the song, even though the name may not be the same as in the song.
I guess most people take names for granted not realizing how important names really are.
To me names are an expression of love, strength and friendship which are the things that really matter.
When doing a demo test on a local Country Radio Station WJTH 900 AM, the reports were, that, all the request coming in for songs on the demo, they simply could not play all the request coming in, which were in favor of the songs...Keep Holding On,
Maranda,Where Are You and Angelina. It was reported that there were 25 to 30 calls a day for these three songs alone.
A demo was also sent to National Public Radio WUTC 88.1 'Voices From Home'.
Upon recieving the album, I was contacted the same day for an interview inwhich all the songs on the album were aired.
The response from everyone hearing the songs on the album has been great and very encouraging! I must say that I've had at least one teary eye event when a daughter call and had the song, Keep Holding On, dedicated to her parents on their 60th Wedding Anniversary and her father being in the hospital in very bad health.
I love the way country music was when it was still country! And that's how I like to express the feelings in what I write. And that's why the title to this album is rightly named:
"THE RETURN OF TRUE COUNTRY!"
