Singer/songwriter James Stanley Howen (Jimmy to his
friends) has many years of performing both in bands and as an acoustic artist behind him. While playing the songs of some of the greatest singer/songwriters in the American tradition like John Prine, Rodney Crowell and Merle Haggard has influenced his original music, Jimmy has found his own voice as singer and songwriter. The sounds of Americana, Classic Country and Southern Rock all make their marks on Jimmy's music. On his first full length CD, Jimmy presents a series of songs written by him, lyricist Harry Hamm and producer Donny Weber. From the timeless imagery of "Where the Mighty Rivers Meet," to the humor of "Beside Myself" and "Some Guys Have All the Luck" and the reflections of "I Owe it All to You" and "Too Late to Say I Love You," Jimmy and Harry's songs cover the emotional gamut. The mix of traditional acoustic instruments with modern electronics reflect Jimmy's roots in the American tradition and his openness to new experiences and influences.
