Jazzy Began singing Country music as a result of playing a restaurant/club called Smuggler's Cove on St. Croix. He has been a Blues/R&B singer for years and when he was in his second year of playing this club, clients began asking him to learn particular songs that they liked. Jazzy learned them and did them so well that people kept asking him to learn more. Pretty soon he had a repertoire that could fill a whole evening. Smuggler's is fairly unique on St. Croix in that there are a lot of folks from Texas, Tennessee, and Louisiana living in a condo facility on the property. They come down mostly to work the major refinery on island. This explains some of the love for Country music on St. Croix.

But then, one of the amazing things about St. Croix is that there is such a mixture of people from all over. For instance, Jazzy recently played the St. Lucia Convention, and people from St. Lucia also love Country music. St. Lucians dress up in country garb and love to dance to traditional country. Some of Country's biggest Stars have performed on the Caribbean Island of St. Lucia, and I'm told, are equally amazed and thrilled at how much these folks take Country music as their own.

You'll find both traditional country, back to Hank Williams, and modern country such as Brooks and Dunn and George Strait, on this CD. This compilation is a tribute to Country music lovers everywhere. Enjoy "The Voice".

BIOGRAPHY:
Jazzy Blue the One Man Band plays keyboard and sings in a soulful, passionate and powerful, baritone voice. You will thoroughly enjoy hearing this man sing. He uses MIDI to augment his performance, though he plays keyboard to all of his material. For some songs he splits the keyboard and plays bass with his left hand. Among Jazzy's recordings are his latest CD's. "That Ain't All I Wanna Say" is a compilation of 10 originals, and "Cowboy Blue" is a collection of his favorite Country songs. "How Sweet it is to be Loved by You" is a collection of "Oldies" or "Old School" such as Motown and the "50's".

Jazzy hails from Buffalo NY where he was born and raised. He began singing as the result of a conversion (spiritual) experience over 20 years ago. He had never sung in public before but knew he was "called" to do so after his conversion. In gospel music, he worked with high caliber musicians such as saxophonist Andrew Woolfolk of Earth Wind and Fire fame, as well as Star Paroadi-Fair who was the female keyboardist on The Arsenio Hall Show. These musicians collaborated on Jazzy's 4th gospel recording project. Jazzy has plans to do another gospel recording as a fund raiser for kid's programs.

Sensing a "call" to broaden the range of potential venues in which to perform, Jazzy answered a newspaper ad by a band looking for a keyboard player. The ad was placed by Handy Award nominee Bobby Parker and His Blues Night Band. After apprenticing with Bobby for about a year, Jazzy started his own blues band, The Jazzy Blue Band. They played several years in the D.C area. In 1998 Jazzy was recruited by multiple Handy Awards winner and Living Blues Award winner Big Jack Johnson and the Oilers, to travel as organist with them on their European Tour. This tour took Jazzy to Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy and Luxembourg. These experiences and a 1995 tour to Australia, convinced him to begin building his music business to play full time. So in the summer of 2000, he "quit his day job" (again) and took off to the Virgin Islands to play full time. He had played several short engagements there before.

Jazzy says "I've had nine lives" when asked about the many "hats" he's worn so far in life. He holds an advanced degree in Theology. And, was 3 classes short of a M.A. in Cross Cultural Studies (China) when the "perpetual student" ran out of steam. He has been Pastor of 2 churches; was a Fireman in the Air Force; was trained for 2 years as a welder by a major corporation; was a Mobile and Overhead Crane Operator; then began the "university" years where he was an Academic Advisor for graduate students, and his last position before leaving to do music full time was Coordinator Of Student Affairs at a major law school. He enjoyed it all but is thrilled to now be performing for you full time.

Jazzy has greatly broadened his repertoire to include Soul, R&B, some Classic Rock/Pop, and Caribbean genres. He can deliver an all Country performance as well. His repertoire, photos, promo, CD's, and contact info are on his website www.jazzyblue.org. He lists well over 200 songs. Please sign his guestbook when you visit. He now resides on St. Croix USVI and travels to entertain far and wide. He enjoys both public and private engagements and would love to talk with you about your upcoming event.
