Jon was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and raised about ninety miles north of Tulsa, in Miami, Oklahoma. Miami is a small town of 13,000 people comprised of small business owners, farmers, Native American tribal offices, and other agricultural based businesses. After the loss of his father at age six, Jon began expressing himself through creative outlets such as painting, sketching, and the occasional poem. Throughout his childhood his creativity was encouraged by his mother and stepfather. Jon's stepfather and stepsister also became very influential in his interest in music. Jon says, "I can always remember my sister singing and my dad playing bass in the church choir". "I didn't know it at the time, but listening to them laid the foundation for my music interest". The most important foundations in Jon's life were built at his home church. In addition to the musical influence of his church, he developed his faith in Christ.
At the age of eighteen, Jon was bitten by the country music bug while his stepfather was performing weekly at the Grand Lake Opry in Grand Lake, Oklahoma. It was here that Jon developed a real love for country music. After graduation, Jon ventured many places from Bible College in Springfield, MO where he played college basketball to Van, Texas where he worked at Sky Ranch as a camp counselor. While in Van, Jon took his first guitar lesson from John Defore in Mineola, TX.
After leaving Texas, Jon spent four years in Fort Collins, Colorado climbing mountains, snowboarding, and flyfishing, all the while playing country music for friends and family. During this time period, a lot of time was spent listening to such artists as Chris Ledoux, Garth Brooks, and George Strait. After going back to school and getting a finance degree from Colorado State University, Jon took a job with British Petroleum in Chicago, IL.
While spending a couple years in Chicago pursuing a career in oil trading it became apparent that Jon was missing home. The south was calling his name again and so was country music. In 2003, Jon moved to Houston where he has flourished in the Texas music scene. With the encouragement of those around him, Jon has made the decision to pursue his music career with the same level of intensity that has driven him throughout his life.
Recently Jon has released his first full length album produced by Texas Music veteran John Evans. With the help and hospitality of local Houston musicians Jon is poised to make a name for himself. From the small town of Miami Oklahoma, to the big cities, and back, Jon pours all of his experiences into his music......Country Music.
