The album contains songs from and about Hawaii. Besides the normal guitar, bass & drums, there is some banjo, fiddle, ukulele, and lap steel. There is also a duet with a female vocalist named Aria St. John, her voice will get ya, if you know what I mean. The songs have a traditional country flavor to them, and every one tells a story. Only one song is actually in the Hawaiian language, the other nine are in English. If you haven't heard the Hawaiian style "Slack Key" guitar, then give this album a listen.
With some of the new popular artists today using alternate guitar tunings, you might find this music interesting, as we have used these "Slack Key" tunings since the 1800s. The artist, Lee Jones, he plays 10 instruments - guitar, banjo, fiddle, ukulele, pedal steel, lap steel, harmonica, bass, drums, and keyboards. Lee is currently doing a solo act in San Diego, doing classic light rock, blues, reggae, country, bluegrass, and Hawaiian music. I've never seen a guy pull of as many different kinds of music as this guy - and be able to do them well - that includes the playing AND the singing. Ok, that's about all I can tell you, give this music a listen, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Just had this thought, while most CDs that come out of major studios these days have one or two good songs, and eight or ten fillers, that is SO not the case here, EVERY song is worth listening to - just thought you should know that. A Hui Hou (till next time). Check out the artist's website: http://www.geocities.com/fidlin55Lee_Jones.html Track List: 1. The Journey 2. Waikiki Hula 3. Point Panic Breakdown 4.
