The Amalgamators are an up and coming band from Lincoln, NE. Their sound is a true amalgamation of styles that makes for a refreshing and original take on modern alt-country. Known for lively and spirited performances, they also emphasize imaginative lyrics and thoughtful song writing. Their influences cut a wide swath across the musical spectrum and produce a sound somewhere between The Byrds, Neil Diamond, and the Gourds.
They’ve just completed their first recording, entitled “My Heart’s Partâ€. This self produced release showcases their musical diversity with songs ranging from bluegrass to country, to psychedelic, with a waltz and a Dead Milkmen tune thrown in for good measure. “My Heart’s Part†features performances from Iowa City lap steel and dobro wizard Dustin Busch, and local banjo hero Steve Hanson. The title is a reference to a Jimmy Martin quip from the bluegrass cult-classic film “High Lonesome,†in which he describes his emotional identification with the subject matter of his songs; or as he puts it, “as far as my heart’s part’s concerned...†The Amalgamators consist of singer/guitarist/songwriter Patrick Bradley, Hugh Hansen on mandolin and lead guitar, Mark Wolberg on the doghouse bass, and Nick Buller on drums. They are equally at home in a loud rockin’ bar as they are at an all acoustic, one-mic coffee house or festival gig. Look for them at a venue near you as they continue to perform wherever possible.
