Dedicated to the professionals in the little-known field of Behavioral Optometry, Diane Marie's first CD, "A Little Dinner Music," is a celebration of the many benefits she has gained by utilizing Vision Therapy: improved sight-reading, depth perception, and self-confidence, to name a few.
Professionally, Diane much prefers the recording studio to public performance (true to her reserved nature), but has performed in various venues in Washington and Oregon. Additionally, she has taught private piano lessons for twenty-plus years, has provided accompaniment for both chorus and ballet classes, and served as Director of Music for a church. Her joy in conducting choirs led her to compose "The Prayer of the Soul" and to set the inspirational poem "Whispers of the Heart" by Rebecca Bolstad to music for soprano solo and chorus. Future compositions (and another CD titled "Shades of Romance") are anticipated once she completes a move to another community in Washington. When it comes to discussing her piano playing, she prefers to speak through her music, rather than about her music, so she offers little commentary, other than that she thrives on an eclectic mix of styles, centering around the romantic. Recently, she completed a twenty month term on volunteer staff for Holden Village, an extremely remote retreat center near upper Lake Chelan in Washington's Cascade Mountains. While there she served as Village Bookkeeper, Village Musician, taught piano, and shared her passion for healing through High Touch Jin Shin Jyutsu, a beautiful, sensitive, and simple healing art for self and others. (She also rediscovered her passion for being in the SNOW!) Dee Dee (her childhood nickname, which she reclaimed at Holden and now prefers to be called) loves country life, horses and other animals, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dancing, cooking creatively, reading, writing, hiking, teaching and singing. She is avid in her use of alternative healing modalities. Dee Dee has been married for twenty-five years to Walt, her biggest fan, moral supporter supreme, dear friend, and dancing partner.
