John Stefan is a dynamic, multi-faceted songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has been writing and performing around the San Francisco Bay Area music scene since 1988.
In 1994 he released "Higher Ground", an instrumental offering he produced and recorded for the former Berkeley-based retailer The Nature Company. Higher Ground sold over 20,000 units in Nature Company stores throughout the US and Canada. John was also a member of Che' Records recording artist Dart, contributing drums, keyboards, guitar and trumpet to 3 singles and the group's critically acclaimed full-length debut CD. Dart's recordings were distributed in through Elektra/Sire ADA.
In 1998, John formed the band Overcurve and independently produced and released the band's eponymous debut CD in 2000. He currently continues to write, perfom and record with Overcurve and has begun a new CD with the band as well.
John creates music that evokes moods and feelings no matter the genre he's writing in. His style is defined by tight arrangements and pop sensibilities that provide a sonic platform for creating songs that are memorable, thoughtful and always accessible.
