Upon leaving Detroit, I gave my good friend Mark my drumsticks - I was playing the drums then. In turn, he gave me a copy of "Physical Graffiti" - my first Led Zeppelin album. In our new Carmel apartment I hooked up my Pioneer Stereo (complete with 8-track, naturally) and was exposed to some of the greatest music I had heard then or have heard since. That album, as well as other Zeppelin albums that followed, became part of the "soundtrack", if you will, to my life in beautiful California.
To this day, after years of musical training in the classics and with many more years of living under my belt, California still evokes in my mind recollections of the songs on this CD. Whenever I visit the wine country to the north, drive along Highway 1 toward Big Sur, or walk along Venice Beach in Los Angeles, I think of this music.
It's a personal thing, I know - perhaps a bit esoteric. Whether the music on this CD calls to your own mind images of California or not, I just hope that you enjoy this wonderfully eclectic mix of Led Zeppelin songs that I have arranged for the classical guitar."
