1026 Fear of a Blank Planet
Artist Guide » Electronic » Dance » STUDIO K PRODUCTIONS: Basick
The production team of Keith Perry (KP) and Woodley St. Germain (Wood Black) grew up with music in their midst with artists like Grand Master Flash, Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Red Alert, KRS-One and other pioneers. The new concepts of how people were integrating melodies, beats and lyrics like they heard as youngsters in their fathers' cars or on the radio was intoxicating and both jump in head first.

This major music venture, being a first for both KP and Wood Black, was the culmination of two separate journeys that arrived at the same spot- Studio K Productions, where they began banging out tracks and as they put it, "getting back to basics".

The name of the album "Basick" comes from the blank canvas that had to be filled- painted with snares, kicks, keys, basses, horns and other sounds that lead to the final musical motif. The project was a leap of faith and a test of will that lasted for more than a year.

With Basick, your ears get to experience an instrumental house project banging out a range of moods- the funky, the funny, the hyper, the mellow, the twisted, the hypnotic and more. Your head will nod and your body will move. Tracks like "Ride" and the title track "Basick" with their simple and hypnotic melodies will enchant your hearing into musical submission.

This debut album is a euphonious mix to two different style that have been blended and carefully balanced. You can expect more from this new team that believe in getting back to the basics of musical expression. As they like to put it, "It's all about the music."
