The pair formed a partnership 'New Years Week Music' as a recording studio where the album 'The Dream' was composed and recorded. Allport's style was driven by his passion for commercial pop music. Mike Oldfield and Scott Cossu inspired the design of the music. 'The Dream' was published in 1996.
Grant Michael Allport was born in Whyalla of South Australia in 1965, 2nd January. He grew up with a healthy respect for commercial pop music and a strong desire to compose songs and perform. However, due to changes in life, he became a composer of uplifting and inspiring instrumental music using synthesizers and samplers.
Allport attended piano and guitar lessons as a child, learnt music in Secondary school which included classical guitar lessons. In his early 20's he purchased a drum kit and took lessons. His passion with rhythm is quite present in his music creations. He also gained experience on bass guitar in a Christian band 'Sign' during his teenage years.
Meeting up with a friend Darren McDougall, a recording studio was formed as a partnership. Allport composed the music which was latter engineered and mixed by McDougall to become the debut album 'The Dream', published in June 1996.
The partnership latter broke up to pursue own interests. Allport now composes from his home studio and promotes the music through the Internet.
Added 2005: Grant has had to establish his own Protools Mixcore Studio and learn the whole recording and mixing process hence no new Albums yet. The 2nd album is recorded and currently in the mixing stage. The 3rd Album is 70% Recorded and in the mixing stage aslo. He is a solo artist so it takes time. Keep watching.
"All the way from down under comes Grant Michael Allport to seduce you with a tasty platter of New Age synthesized delights. Instrumental music has so many facets. Allport is able to give his audience a strong and tasteful mixture of synthesizer music. He keeps your attention and doesn't lull you to sleep. Upbeat, colorful, plush soundscapes are created to ease you into a state of comfort while enticing you to dream a little. Picturesque and intricate is the best way to describe Allport's journey into the endless wall of sound that he creates. I believe it's tremendously difficult to create an imaginative and desirable sound consistently while working within certain limitations. Grant overcomes all the obstacles and pulls out all the stops. A very strong performance worthy of earning a spot in any instrumental collection of substance. This man has tremendous talent and ability. The future forecast looks good. Expect more wonderful music from this artist."
