Nathan Sheldon is an independent composer/performer in the Fresno, California area. He began tinkering with musical instruments very young around the age of 6. Influenced by his mother's singing talent and grandmother's piano playing, Nathan quickly learned to reproduce melodies on the piano that he heard elsewhere. In the early 90's he began experimenting with consumer electronic keyboards and building on his own personal style. By the mid 90's Nathan had learned much about sound synthesis and had begun experimenting not only with melodies but basic sound manipulation with the consumer electronic keyboards at his disposal. By the late 90's, while in college, he was able to gain access to a professional musical synthesizer, the Roland XP-80, and quickly began tweaking parameters to create environmental sounds from basic sampled sounds on the keyboard.

The Nathan Sheldon album is the first compilation of songs Nathan composed during this time. The group of songs, originally released in 1998 as a free download on the Internet, reflects his initial melodic experiments and sound designs using only the Roland XP-80 music workstation.
