No "edge", no "attitude" - just "Aloha". In the 175-Year-Old tradition of Hawaiian Slack Key guitar, the guitar is tuned to an "open" chord, played fingerstyle, and fretted normally (not with a steel bar or slide). The haunting resonances of the open tunings and the gentle rhythms produce the sweetest, most beautiful music I've ever heard! From the first time I heard Slack Key, I had the vision to fit its tunings and techniques to some classic hymns. But I had to unlock its mysteries first, traveling to Hawaii to study Slack "at the source" in 2001 and 2002 at the Beamer Family Aloha Music Camp, where I was appointed "Buffalo's Ambassador for Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar". By that point, I had started performing Slack Key in the Buffalo area, where ever I could find an opportunity (even if that meant "busking" on the street for the annual Buffalo-Niagara Guitar Festival). But I persevere, simply because I can't not play this beautiful music. And I love sharing it. Even if the melodies of these old hymns are new to you, I am positive you'll be blessed by the smooth, "nahe nahe" nature of this music. 'Soul-soothing and spirit-lifting' is the review I give it. Wishing you Aloha, and Mahalo (Hawaiian for 'Thank you!') for checking it out! Bill
